Frequently Asked Questions

Why choose Catskills Home Inspections?

  • Emily has over thirteen years on the ground within the building industry and has been a licensed home inspector since 2021. She has strong attention to detail and aims to provide clear information, so you know what to expect with your home.

What should I expect to see in a written report?

  • The report will include notes and photos of defects observed on the day of inspection. Please see the Standards of Practice at www.nachi.org/sop.htm for a more complete answer.

What is my part in a home inspection?

  • Agree upon a time and date that works for all parties (your agent can attend on your behalf)

  • E-sign a contract

  • Make a payment

  • Check email for your report

How soon after the inspection will I receive my report?

  • You will receive a detailed report within 24 hours of inspection. You have paid for this report, and it is entirely your decision whom you choose to share it with. The inspector will not share it with other parties.

What if the inspection can’t be completed? (e.g. no attic access, locked utility closed, snow on roof)

  • If the seller or seller's agent makes previously inaccessible spaces available, Emily will return within five or fewer days from the initial inspection to record additional information.  A supplemental report will be delivered via email within 24 hours. If arrangements cannot be made within the aforementioned time frame (e.g. snow still on the roof), Emily will provide as complete of a report as deemed possible from the time of inspection.
